MINI-PUPILLAGES

At Forum Chambers we are keen to give students the opportunity to see first-hand how barristers work so that they can make informed decisions on whether or not to pursue a career at the Bar. We therefore offer Mini-pupillages, which are intended for those who are studying at university level and are considering a career at the Bar.

Mini-pupillages provides an excellent opportunity to see how barristers work on a daily basis.  We are always happy to consider applications from individuals who are keen to explore the possibility of a career at the Bar.

Forum Chambers operates an Equality and Diversity Policy in accordance with the Bar Code and Conduct and the equality and diversity requirements of the Bar Standard Board. We welcome applications from aspiring barristers from any background and particularly welcome and encourage applications from women, Black, Asian and minority ethnic individuals, disabled people, those who are LGBTQ+, as well as all other groups who are underrepresented in the legal sector. All applications are treated strictly on merit regardless of background.

Anyone undertaking a law or non-law degree at university is welcome to apply, but we find that the candidates most likely to benefit from a mini-pupillage are those who have completed their first year of an undergraduate degree in law, or non-law graduates who have commenced the GDL.

Successful applicants will spend time with a range of barristers at Forum Chambers and can expect to attend court, attend conferences and undertake legal research. There will also be the opportunity to study case papers and discuss them with the respective barrister handling the case.

Our mini-pupillages are intended to give mini-pupils the chance to see a snapshot of working life at the commercial Bar and tend to last for two or three days. They are not assessed. We are happy to cover the reasonable travel expenses of successful candidates.

PLEASE NOTE: We have paused applications temporarily and will re-open them in January.

Please note, if your application is unsuccessful, you may only reapply once 12 months has passed since the submission of your last application
